The eight Clarett preamps have been meticulously engineered to bring authentic large-format studio sound to any ADAT enabled interface. All-analogue Air mode, with impedance switching, recreates the legendary effect of Focusrite's ISA mic pres, adding clarity and presence to drums, guitars and vocals. Two JFET instrument inputs capture the true characteristics of guitars, just like plugging into an amp. High-quality A-D/D-A converters brings audio clarity to studio tracking sessions.

At the heart of the ISA range is the microphone preamplifier with its Lundahl input transformer — essentially the same circuit, based on the original ISA110, that has been used for 30 years in successive Focusrite designs. The input transformer imparts a special character to the sound that can't be truly emulated in any other way: inseparable from the microphone itself, the transformer input stage is ideal for use with classic microphones. 

Focusrite's ISA Two brings together a totally independent pair of legendary ISA microphone preamps from the original ISA 110 module, combining the best of traditional solid-state electronics with the original input transformer specified by Rupert Neve — the Lundahl LL1538. Two is a nice round number ideal for recording, say, a vocal and an instrument, or a stereo piano. But though you may only need two mic pres, you owe it to your craft to choose the best. Now in its second generation, the ISA 428 Mk II incorporates four of Focusrite's renowned mic pres in a simple-to-operate 2U enclosure, placing four mic preamps, instrument inputs and line ins at your fingertips. The original Focusrite mic pre was designed to suit the microphones of the time; today's model makes one small change, adding three additional input impedances to the classic ISA110 setting, allowing you to match any microphone, old or new, and access a wide range of sounds.

Sharing the simple mic preamp design of the original Focusrite ISA 110 module from the Focusrite Studio Console, ISA 828 MK2 incorporates eight of Focusrite's classic mic preamps, with Lundahl LL1538 transformers on every input.
